Yamaha Pow-Wow / YZF-R6 Street Bike
« Last post by ripley on October 26, 2016, 03:04:00 PM »
I'm street bike shopping and I'm looking for some real world reviews on the YZF-R6 Yamaha street bike. I'm most likely going to buy a used bike so I'd appreciate any info on the older models more than anything.

Here' what Yamaha writes on their website for the new model:

Quote
Beauty - Technology - Speed - Meet the All-New 2017 YZF-R6
On track or street, the YZF-R6 was already one of the most advanced and successful super-sport machines ever built. For 2017, radical new styling wraps up an even more intelligent racing machine, complete with ABS brakes, new suspension and new electronic rider aids.

Unparalleled Racetrack Success
The Yamaha YZF-R6 has won more AMA middleweight races and championships than any other 600cc sportbike, making it the number one choice for amateur and professional racers alike.

Legendary R6 Handling
Already one of the most nimble machines in the supersport class, 2017 brings additional mass-centralization to the proven R6 package along with updated suspension, for improved front-end feedback and greater cornering confidence.

Thrilling Power and Control
With a class-leading, high-revving four-cylinder power-plant at its heart, the R6 already screams across the start/finish line ahead of the pack, but for 2017, the addition of traction control and D-Modes allow the rider to extract even more performance from the potent engine.

Let me know what you guys think on these bikes.

  • Is the YZF-R6 Reliable?
  • Is the YZF-R6 Seat Comfortable?
  • Is the YZF-R6 Loud?
  • How's the YZF-R6 Suspension?
  • Is the YZF-R6 Headlight Bright?

The Honda CBR600RR is that machine. Proven on the track, it fits like a glove, and is as responsive and instinctive as snapping your fingers. Happy to cut fast laps on a track day, it’s comfortable enough to use as a weekday commuter or a weekend canyon bike.

The chassis (an aluminum twin-spar design) is the basis of the CBR600RR’s laser-sharp handling. Brakes? You can choose between its conventional triple-disc setup or opt for a special version with Honda’s revolutionary Combined Anti-Lock Braking System (C-ABS), the first ever on a production Supersport motorcycle. The CBR600RR’s Combined Anti-Lock Braking System (C-ABS) is the first of its kind on a Supersport machine.

I'm street bike shopping and I'm looking for some real world reviews on the GSX-R600 Suzuki street bike. I'm most likely going to buy a used bike so I'd appreciate any info on the older models more than anything.

Here' what Suzuki writes on their website for the new model:

The Suzuki GSX-R600 is a class-leading sport bike worthy of its race-winning GSX-R heritage.  A compact, powerful 4-cylinder engine demonstrates the advanced race-proven technology of the GSX-R line when you hit the throttle and push it to red-line, while supremely refined suspension systems front and rear help provide precise, responsive handling. Wrapped in aerodynamic and lightweight bodywork that’s lifted from the race track, the GSX-R600 can not only win races, it can win envy.

Let me know what you guys think on these bikes.

Ducati Pow-Wow / Ducati Versus Kawasaki Street Bikes
« Last post by 250engine on July 07, 2016, 12:16:25 PM »
Any takers on this one? Looking for Ducati owners that can back up the reliability and power of their bikes when compared to Kawasaki sport bikes. I understand the name Ducati sounds pretty impressive, but I am curious how they rank when they go up against a Japanese sport bike of similar engine size.

Is the fuel system clean? Check fuel lines and fuel filter, once you've verified you have good fuel flow, then you can start checking electrical components.

Kawasaki Pow-Wow / The Kawasaki Ninja

I would like to see a Kawasaki Ninja thread here. Any Ninja riders? The Ninja is a no-holds-barred street bike. It is crisp and fun to ride. Easy power upgrades to this bike include adding a pipe and silencer. Any thoughts on the best pipe and silencer combo?

I've got a 91 KX 250 that continually gives me a hard start. It will start if I kick the heck out of it, but it should definitely start easier than this. I've replaced and gapped the plug already. Any ideas?
