Powersports Websites / Re: Dirt Bike Magazine
Last post by kennhurr - May 05, 2023, 04:09:42 AM
Old dirt bike magazines can be a great way to revisit the history of off-road motorcycling and to learn more about classic bikes, riders, and events from the past. Dirt bike magazines have been around for many decades, and they have played an important role in documenting the evolution of off-road riding and racing.

Old dirt bike magazines can also be a great source of information for riders who are interested in restoring classic dirt bikes or who are looking to learn more about the technical details of different bikes and components. Many magazines from the past include detailed bike tests, reviews, and feature articles that provide in-depth information on different bikes, as well as interviews with riders and race reports from major events.

If you are interested in collecting old dirt bike magazines, there are many resources available online, including online auction sites, vintage magazine dealers, and collector's forums. Many enthusiasts also recommend checking out local swap meets and flea markets, where you may be able to find old magazines and other vintage dirt bike gear at reasonable prices.

The swap meet idea is the best idea since you have a shot at finding something that's not listed online because somebody doesn't know how to list it online.

Dirt Bike Pow-Wow / Re: The Kawasaki KDX220R (KDX ...
Last post by kennhurr - May 05, 2023, 04:07:25 AM
The KDX220 is a classic bike as far as I'm concerned.

The Kawasaki KDX220 is no longer in production. The KDX220 was a two-stroke enduro motorcycle that was produced by Kawasaki from 1997 to 2005. It was designed as a versatile, off-road bike that was suitable for both trail riding and competition.

While the KDX220 is no longer being produced by Kawasaki, it remains a popular and highly regarded bike among off-road enthusiasts. Its lightweight design, powerful two-stroke engine, and capable suspension system make it well-suited for a wide range of off-road riding conditions, from technical singletrack trails to high-speed desert runs.

If you are interested in purchasing a KDX220, you will likely need to look for a used model. However, because the KDX220 is a well-regarded bike with a loyal following, there are still many of these bikes available on the used market, and they can be a good option for riders who are looking for a reliable and capable off-road machine.

Trike Pow-Wow / Re: DG Accelerator Silencers
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:08:17 AM
It's difficult to say whether DG silencers are better than their competitors, as there are many factors that can influence the performance and effectiveness of an ATV or dirt bike silencer. DG is a well-known manufacturer of high-performance exhaust systems and silencers for ATVs and dirt bikes, and they have a reputation for producing quality products that offer improved performance and sound reduction.

However, there are many other manufacturers that also produce high-quality ATV and dirt bike silencers, each with their own unique design and features. The effectiveness and performance of a silencer can depend on factors such as the specific model of ATV or dirt bike, the type of riding conditions, and the preferences of the rider.

When choosing a silencer for your ATV or dirt bike, it's important to consider factors such as the design, weight, durability, and noise reduction capabilities of the product. You may also want to read reviews and ratings from other customers to get an idea of the performance and reliability of the product. Ultimately, the best silencer for your needs will depend on your specific preferences and requirements.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: DVX ATV Exhaust Springs
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:07:09 AM
ATV exhaust springs can stretch over time due to the heat and vibration generated by the engine. This can cause the exhaust system to become loose, which can lead to leaks and other problems. Over time, the stretching of the springs can cause them to lose their tension, which can make it difficult to keep the exhaust system properly secured to the ATV.

To prevent problems with your ATV exhaust system, it's a good idea to periodically check the exhaust springs for signs of wear or damage. If you notice that the springs are stretched or have lost their tension, it's important to replace them as soon as possible. In general, it's a good idea to replace the exhaust springs every few years or as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure that the exhaust system remains secure and properly functioning.

This holds true for the DVX ATV and any other Arctic Cat ATV also.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: How Often to Change Oil in...
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:05:38 AM
The frequency of oil changes for an ATV depends on several factors, including the manufacturer's recommendations, the type of oil used, and how the ATV is used. In general, it's a good idea to change the oil in your ATV at least once a year, regardless of how often you use it. However, if you use your ATV frequently, or in harsh conditions such as dusty or muddy environments, you may need to change the oil more frequently.

For most ATVs, the manufacturer will recommend an oil change interval based on hours of operation or mileage. This interval can vary depending on the make and model of the ATV, so it's important to consult the owner's manual for specific recommendations. In general, a typical oil change interval for an ATV is every 50-100 hours of operation or every 1000-1500 miles.

It's also important to use the correct type of oil for your ATV. The owner's manual will typically provide recommendations for the type of oil to use based on the climate and conditions in which you'll be riding. Always use a high-quality oil that meets the manufacturer's specifications.

In summary, it's best to change the oil in your ATV at least once a year, or more frequently if you use your ATV frequently or in harsh conditions. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for oil change intervals and use the correct type of oil for your ATV.

This pertains to DVX oil changes and pretty much every other Arctic Cat ATV also.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: Yamoto ATV
Last post by kennhurr - April 29, 2023, 05:37:22 AM
Yamoto ATVs were manufactured by a Chinese company named Zhejiang Taotao Industry Co., Ltd. However, it appears that the Yamoto brand is no longer in production or sold under that name.

It's important to note that there are many Chinese-made ATVs and UTVs on the market, and the quality and reliability of these vehicles can vary widely. If you are considering purchasing a Chinese-made ATV, it's important to research the brand and manufacturer, read reviews from reputable sources, and inspect the vehicle thoroughly before making a purchase. It may also be more challenging to find replacement parts and service for Chinese-made ATVs, so it's important to factor that into your decision-making process as well.

The Yamoto name always sounded too much like Yamaha to me. Almost like they were trying to confuse people with the Yamoto brand.
