Trike Pow-Wow / Re: DG Accelerator Silencers
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:08:17 AM
It's difficult to say whether DG silencers are better than their competitors, as there are many factors that can influence the performance and effectiveness of an ATV or dirt bike silencer. DG is a well-known manufacturer of high-performance exhaust systems and silencers for ATVs and dirt bikes, and they have a reputation for producing quality products that offer improved performance and sound reduction.

However, there are many other manufacturers that also produce high-quality ATV and dirt bike silencers, each with their own unique design and features. The effectiveness and performance of a silencer can depend on factors such as the specific model of ATV or dirt bike, the type of riding conditions, and the preferences of the rider.

When choosing a silencer for your ATV or dirt bike, it's important to consider factors such as the design, weight, durability, and noise reduction capabilities of the product. You may also want to read reviews and ratings from other customers to get an idea of the performance and reliability of the product. Ultimately, the best silencer for your needs will depend on your specific preferences and requirements.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: DVX ATV Exhaust Springs
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:07:09 AM
ATV exhaust springs can stretch over time due to the heat and vibration generated by the engine. This can cause the exhaust system to become loose, which can lead to leaks and other problems. Over time, the stretching of the springs can cause them to lose their tension, which can make it difficult to keep the exhaust system properly secured to the ATV.

To prevent problems with your ATV exhaust system, it's a good idea to periodically check the exhaust springs for signs of wear or damage. If you notice that the springs are stretched or have lost their tension, it's important to replace them as soon as possible. In general, it's a good idea to replace the exhaust springs every few years or as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure that the exhaust system remains secure and properly functioning.

This holds true for the DVX ATV and any other Arctic Cat ATV also.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: How Often to Change Oil in...
Last post by kennhurr - May 01, 2023, 04:05:38 AM
The frequency of oil changes for an ATV depends on several factors, including the manufacturer's recommendations, the type of oil used, and how the ATV is used. In general, it's a good idea to change the oil in your ATV at least once a year, regardless of how often you use it. However, if you use your ATV frequently, or in harsh conditions such as dusty or muddy environments, you may need to change the oil more frequently.

For most ATVs, the manufacturer will recommend an oil change interval based on hours of operation or mileage. This interval can vary depending on the make and model of the ATV, so it's important to consult the owner's manual for specific recommendations. In general, a typical oil change interval for an ATV is every 50-100 hours of operation or every 1000-1500 miles.

It's also important to use the correct type of oil for your ATV. The owner's manual will typically provide recommendations for the type of oil to use based on the climate and conditions in which you'll be riding. Always use a high-quality oil that meets the manufacturer's specifications.

In summary, it's best to change the oil in your ATV at least once a year, or more frequently if you use your ATV frequently or in harsh conditions. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for oil change intervals and use the correct type of oil for your ATV.

This pertains to DVX oil changes and pretty much every other Arctic Cat ATV also.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: Yamoto ATV
Last post by kennhurr - April 29, 2023, 05:37:22 AM
Yamoto ATVs were manufactured by a Chinese company named Zhejiang Taotao Industry Co., Ltd. However, it appears that the Yamoto brand is no longer in production or sold under that name.

It's important to note that there are many Chinese-made ATVs and UTVs on the market, and the quality and reliability of these vehicles can vary widely. If you are considering purchasing a Chinese-made ATV, it's important to research the brand and manufacturer, read reviews from reputable sources, and inspect the vehicle thoroughly before making a purchase. It may also be more challenging to find replacement parts and service for Chinese-made ATVs, so it's important to factor that into your decision-making process as well.

The Yamoto name always sounded too much like Yamaha to me. Almost like they were trying to confuse people with the Yamoto brand.

ATV Pow-Wow / Re: Eton ATV
Last post by kennhurr - April 29, 2023, 05:35:34 AM
ETON was a brand of ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) that was manufactured by ETON America, a subsidiary of a Taiwanese company named E-TON.

In terms of the reliability of ETON ATVs, it's difficult to make a definitive statement, as individual experiences may vary depending on factors such as usage, maintenance, and environmental conditions. However, ETON ATVs were generally regarded as being durable and well-built, with a reputation for being reliable and easy to maintain.

If you are considering purchasing a used ETON ATV, it's important to thoroughly inspect the vehicle, research its history and maintenance records, and have a qualified mechanic perform a comprehensive inspection before making a purchase. Additionally, it may be more challenging to find replacement parts and service for ETON ATVs since the brand is no longer in production.

UTV Pow-Wow / Re: UTV Brand to Avoid
Last post by kennhurr - April 29, 2023, 05:32:37 AM
Reliability can be impacted by various factors such as maintenance, usage, and environmental conditions, and individual experiences can vary.

There have been several UTV brands that have ceased production or gone out of business over the years. Here are some examples of defunct UTV brands you can avoid:

  • Joyner: Joyner was a Chinese-based UTV manufacturer that produced a range of models, including the Trooper, Renegade, and Sand Viper. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and is no longer in operation.
  • Tomcar: Tomcar was an Australian UTV manufacturer that produced rugged, off-road vehicles for military and commercial use. The company went into administration in 2020 and is currently looking for a buyer.
  • Cub Cadet: Cub Cadet was a UTV brand owned by MTD Products, a company that also produces lawn and garden equipment. Cub Cadet stopped production of their UTVs in 2019.
  • Kymco: Kymco was a Taiwanese-based manufacturer that produced a range of UTVs, including the UXV 500 and UXV 700. The company decided to discontinue its UTV line in North America in 2020.
  • Yamaha Rhino: Yamaha Rhino was a popular UTV model produced by Yamaha from 2004 to 2013. The vehicle faced several safety concerns and lawsuits, which led to its discontinuation in 2013.

It's important to note that while these brands are no longer in operation or producing UTVs, some of their models may still be available on the market through used or aftermarket sales.
