The CR250 is a dirt bike legend. I had a 1980 CR250 Elsinore many moons ago.

QuoteYour local auto parts store usually has a pretty good selection of drain plugs, you may be able to match one up there. Hopefully you're not still looking for one...
QuotePurple DVX Plastics sound cool, wondering if you ever went ahead with aftermarket plastics and how your quad looks now.
QuoteIf this were my ATV, I would also start with the battery and go forward from there. If your connections are good, tight, and clean, a load test on a battery is a good place to start.
You can use a voltmeter to test for 12V when the battery is at rest, you should see anywhere from 12.3VDC to 13.5VDC. This static test doesn't give you the whole story. When the battery is loaded down, voltage can drop substantially.
If you have alligator clips you can clip the test leads to the battery or have a helper hold the leads on the battery terminals while someone else tries to start the ATV.
A voltage drop of maybe 2V would be expected, but to see the battery voltage drop to 8 volts or less would indicate to me that it's time to go battery shopping.
QuoteI use whatever brand of brake pads i can get at the moment i need them. I have never felt like one brand was exceptionally better than another. I would suggest you don't get the cheapest one because you get what you pay for, other than that, I wouldn't worry that much especially going out and buying OEM brake pads.
QuoteExhaust springs are cheap and if it looks to you like they need changing, then by all means change them. I would be surprised to see them wear out very often unless something isn't seated properly.
QuoteBuy ATV cable lube. I have heard of people using motor oil twenty years ago but I see no reason to go that route. PJ1 makes cable lube and that is its only use... lubricating cables
QuoteI guess motor oil would do the trick, but like you said, there's really no point doing that. Shimano also makes a good cable lube from what I've heard.
QuoteJust use cable lube since it is designed for this use on your Arctic Cat cables. They also make universal cable lube tools that help guide the cable lube inside properly and they only cost a few bucks. You can get them online or at a dealer.
QuoteMy feeling is that it doesn't matter what brand of spark plug you use as long as it is properly sized. Champions are good and available almost anywhere, NGK has a good reputation but i think they are overpriced. I think you can even cross over to Auto-lite.
QuoteThe right spark plug for an Arctic Cat DVX is mostly just using the proper size and the right gap.
Quote
I've actually experimented over the years with my Arctic cats and other ATV's and I always felt like i could foul an NGK easier than any other brand in my 2 strokes. As for 4 strokes though, I could never see a difference between the brands. So the right spark plug for an Arctic Cat ATV is probably just preference, just do your own experiment.
QuoteShould I use an aftermarket muffler on my DVX quad? Is it worth the investment? I'm not sure I want a louder machine if it's not going to improve performance by that much.
QuoteAftermarket mufflers for 4 stroke engine are more show than go. If you ask me, the gains in power are minimal and the increase in noise just aren't worth it.
QuoteI used to agree with the "more show than go" theory on silencers anyway. But replacing the entire exhaust can get you a major improvement to say the least, it can increase the mid-range power, you may see an increase right from idle also. I learned this by swapping my original exhaust and my new pipe and silencer on and off my machine multiple times. It was a NOTICEABLE difference.
These pipes and silencers aren't cheap and may not be worth it depending on how hard you plan on riding. But if you're after a performance increase on your Arctic Cat or any ATV, replacing the stock exhaust system should be one of the first steps. Get a quality exhaust system first and build additional performance mods after that.
What is the best Arctic Cat silencer and pipe? That I don't know but i have had good luck with FMF products.
QuoteHow often do you change the oil in a DVX ATV? Looking for some advice I guess. I plan on trail riding my DVX so you get an idea of how I plan to ride my quad.
QuoteOil is cheap and I change it frequently. I sometimes drain it out and it doesn't even look like it needed to be changed so maybe I overdue it when it comes to oil change intervals.
QuotePlan on keeping your Cat? Change the often more often than you think you need to. Oil is fairly cheap and your ATV will thank you for it!
QuoteDo you guys recommend any particular oil brand that's known to work best with our ATVs?
QuoteDVX Oil viscosity is the most important aspect but I always avoid generic oil
